Founded in 1970, Clifford James quickly established themselves as the mail order shoe specialists. In recent times they have expanded their product range which now includes male and female shoes, clothing and accessories, health and mobility products, items for the home and garden and much more, all of which can be viewed online at www.clifford-james.co.uk. Their customers, many of whom are repeat mail order buyers, have been loyal to the company for many years and are recruited through advertisements placed in the national daily and Sunday newspapers, third party insert programmes and targeted direct mail .
All are mail responsive and in profile terms of a more mature age covering most socio-economic groups with household income £20,000 and below. Purchasers are 65% male, 35% female and homeowners. They are retired or in skilled/manual work and tend to favour the popular and mid-market press. A high percentage of orders are via credit/charge card transactions with many customers being repeat purchasers. List profiling shows customers having strong interests in gardening, DIY, books/reading and gambling. Average order value is £40.
The list owner mails the database themselves a minimum of 5 times per annum keeping the file very clean and up-to-date.
